USA takes gold and Beau shoots low. Everyone knows that Scottie Scheffler is having a historic year, and it seemed right for him to add “Olympic Gold Medalist” to his resume. Not sure what can top that, but Beau Hossler did indeed shoot a 60 in the first round in the Wyndham Championship. After the storm damage, round 2 of that tournament has resumed this morning.
THE COURSE
Fossil Trace Golf Club

Located in Golden, Colorado, Fossil Trace Golf Club offers a unique blend of golfing challenge and historical wonder just 20 minutes from Denver. This course is recognized as one of Denver’s top golf destinations, offering a mountain-like atmosphere in an urban setting.
Golf Digest has called this “The 18 Most Fun Holes in America” and of those 18 holes, the 12th hole stands out on top. Here golfers can find fossilized Triceratops footprints and other ancient traces, linking the course's name to its prehistoric past. It’s definitely a course that you need to play!

Experience: As a golf photographer, this place is a dream! Hands down the best part of this course are the views it offers, especially during Autumn! One of the things that impressed me the most was how pristine the course conditions were given how cold it was that time of year. Being from the south, I’m used to Bermuda turning brown the second a little chill is in the air. But the grass at Montcalm was as green as could be despite the chilly temps and changing leaves. One thing I really appreciated during my round was that each hole had its own identity and character. Never felt like you played the same hole twice! Lots of fun and challenging holes. The only reason I didn’t give it a 10 was because the holes with elevation changes can ruin your score quickly if you’re not aware of what club to hit in certain scenarios. Playing the course as a first timer can be challenging due to this reason, but overall, a really spectacular track!
