Is South Carolina Your Next Golf Trip?

Hope you didn’t miss it. In just this past week, Xander Schauffle won The Open and Bryson DeChambeau and former President Donald Trump shot a 50 from the red tees on YouTube (donating $220k to the Wounded Warrior Project as a result). What a week!

THE COURSE
Myrtle Beach National Kings North

Hole 6: The Gambler (Myrtle Beach National)

King’s North stands out as one of Myrtle Beach’s most iconic layouts, largely due to Arnold Palmer’s innovative design. This bucket list course is renowned for “The Gambler,” a par 5 with an alternate island fairway.

Will you risk the alternate island fairway to set up a chance at reaching the green in two and an eagle putt, or will you choose the conventional route? Beware: if the pin is positioned at the back, precision is key regardless of your strategy.

King’s North is currently closed for an extensive renovation project but will reopen October 3, 2024. So mark your calendars because the course is only going to be getting better!

COURSES YOU’VE PLAYED
The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island

Hole #17: Joe Canfield

“It’s on the pricy side, but the experience is worth it if you’re a golf nut and get a chance to play there”

  • IG Handle: @fairwaysrm

  • Location: Kiawah, South Carolina

  • Date Played: June 8, 2024

  • Tee Time Fees: $600

  • Joe’s Rating: 10.0 / 10.0 (Beats Pacific Dunes)

  • Experience: I’ve played the Ocean Course 4 times. The place is incredible. In immaculate condition all the time. The Pete Dye design is challenging, but fair. It forces you to hit the right shots and play smart. The coolest thing is thinking about the history while you’re walking up the same fairways the pros did for the 1991 Ryder Cup, 2012, & 2021 PGA Championships. I birdied 17 from the pro tee one time playing the course and of course had to look up the scoring average for the holes during the PGA and see if I had beat it.
